Any Dog Can Be A Pet... A Boxer Is Family

Urgent Plea!

Red Dirt is overwhelmed with Boxers that need our help.

We rely solely on foster homes because we do not have a kennel facility at this time.

This means we desperately need your help!

Please open your heart to a Boxer in need. We currently have 10 Boxers on our waiting list and their time is running out. Please take a look at a few of the sweet faces who are waiting for their second chance at life (we don't have pictures of everyone just yet). You could mean the difference between life and death for one of these sweet boxer kids. Please contact Red Dirt 405-445-4029 if you would like to help...even if it's just temporary... We will provide you with a crate and any other basic essentials you need. If you don't have room for a Boxer in your home but would still like to help we gladly accept donations toward boarding costs.

Please visit our Foster Page for more information.

Thank You!

Red Dirt Boxer Rescue

As of December 2008, RDBR is officially a 501(C)3 Non-Profit Corporation. Although we are newly formed our dedicated volunteers have many years of experience in performing rescue work with other established groups.

RDBR  provides several valuable rescue services for the public, from taking in abandoned and abused boxers from shelters as well as accepting owner surrendered Boxers from private individuals. We conduct a thorough adoption process: continuing long after a boxer has found it's new forever home. RDBR also helps current boxer owners with behavioral problems in order to help families keep their beloved companion. We strive to promote responsible pet ownership through education, outreach, and promotion of healthy dog habits.

Our volunteers include individuals who have rescue, dog training and behavior experience. Most important we are boxer owners dedicated to saving the breed we all love unconditionally. » More About Us

» Featured Boxers: Jack and Jill

February,  2009

My name is Jill.  I use to be a princess.  I was loved and adored by all those around me.  I was the cutest little, brindle boxer you ever did see.  My best friend is my brother, Jack.  He was a prince.   Everyone always gushed on how big, bold, and beautiful he was.  Of course I would wiggle by and make them forget about him and pet me.  Jack and I use to have so much fun.  We would run, and chase, and growl, and bark, and roll on our backs in the grass.  One day Jack started getting sick.  At first, it was just little spots where his hair was missing.  Then he started having a belly ache.  He didn’t want to play with me anymore.  He just wanted to lie around.  I tried to tell our people, but they just kept walking.  They gave us water; I guess that was supposed to make him better.  Jack just kept getting worse and worse.  I tried really hard to make him feel better, but it wasn’t helping.  One day I noticed my hair was falling out too.  My face got raw from the sores.  I was so cold outside in the snow with hardly any fur.  I was really getting scared.  I tried to stay positive for Jack.  He is the big brother, but he just doesn’t want to try anymore.  His skin is so hot when you touch him.  Almost all his fur is gone.  His beautiful face is raw, swollen, and bleeding.  His legs are so swollen, he looks like an elephant.  He has a really bad sore on his hip.  The sore is from him lying on the hard ground.  He doesn’t have any meat left on him.  I can count all his bones.  If I can get him to get up, he doesn’t walk like a dog anymore.  He walks like a crippled up old man.  He can hardly stand.  I can’t see his beautiful eyes anymore.  When he looks at you all you can see it the puss in his eyes.  I don’t think he can see me anymore.

It hasn’t been just a few days or weeks.  It has been a really long time, since we got sick.  To me it feels like years, human years.  It has only been a few months.  I don’t understand why they look out the door at us, and don’t come out and help.  Food and water is not going to fix us.  We need to go to the vet.  We need some medicine.  I guess all those fancy cars, take all their money, and they can’t afford to go to vet.  I go to sleep every night hoping that tomorrow will be the day they care.

I am not sure who our guardian angel is, but there is someone out there looking out for us.  Somebody called Oklahoma City Animal Welfare.  They came out to check on us, they were furious at what they found.  They scooped us up.  They called the police.  They took us to the shelter and laid us on soft blankets.  I can see it in their eyes how bad we are.  Our angel made sure a Boxer Rescue mom was walking by the printer when our pictures were being printed for evidence.  She couldn’t help but look at them.  When she realized we were boxers, she asked to see us.  She told them, she would take us home.  She would do whatever they wanted, if she could take us home.  The very next day we were signed over to the city and they let boxer rescue come get us.  They have bathed us, took us to the vet, gave us medicine, and soft clean blankets.  They are trying to make us better.  I heard them say, that I will be ok.  That it going to take a long time, and lots of medicine and love, but I will be a princess again.  They said, Jack is doing better, but they just don’t know if he is just too sick.  They are trying so hard to make him better.  He is spending a lot of time getting doctored.  The vet has given them everything they can to make him better.  Now we have to see if he wants to fight again.  I hope he will fight.  I don’t want to be a princess if he isn’t a prince.

Please help make Jack a prince again.  And please support the laws that make it a crime to put 20” rims ahead of a life.
