How To Foster A Red Dirt Boxer

Ever thought about fostering a dog?

Have a little extra room?

...some extra love to share?

It is a wonderful way to help out the breed and maybe even find a forever friend.

Here is how it works:

RDBR provides all foster homes with a crate. We do ask all foster homes to crate train. This speeds up potty training and helps the new dog adjust to your home easier. Also, there may be times the foster home will need to "crate and rotate". Lets face it, not all dogs get along with all other dogs. Sometimes, your foster dog will need to be crated while your personal dogs are out, and vice versa. This allows us to help more dogs.
RDBR provides all vet work. We will spay or neuter the foster dog as well as, get all their shots, wormer, monthly heartworm, and flea and tick preventative. If they have any illnesses, we will provide any medications they may need. There will be times the foster family may need to help with transportation to and from vet appointments.
Foster homes provide food and love for the dogs. We ask you to bring the foster into your home, as if he was your dog. Love him. Teach him. Work with him on everything you would work on with your own dog. Foster homes provide feedback to RDBR on the dog's personality and traits. We put this information on the website so everyone looking for a dog gets an idea of what the dog will be like.
When an application comes in, the RDBR adoption committee will review the application. Once we have approved the application, we give them the foster family's phone number. The foster family will then talk to the applicant about the dog and set a meeting between the foster dog and the perspective new parents.

The foster family gets to see the dog go to its forever home. They get to see the little boy hugging his dog. The family that is now complete. The senior now has a companion to be with. It is truly a wonderful experience to see these dogs go to homes you know they deserve. A place where there will be a never ending supply of toys, treats, love and attention.
Please consider giving these guys a new chance at life. A chance to have a family. Feel free to contact us with any questions. We would love to discuss the ins and outs with you. You can go to a foster home and see how we take care of these guys. See if fostering would be for you.
