...My name is Thumper!!:

...Hi, my name is Thumper. I am 5 months old. I'm so happy to be with Red Dirt Boxer Rescue!

I was given this name 'cause I have big feet like the bunny. Before I tell you my story, I want to let you know that abuse of any kind to any species of animal, or human is not acceptable!!! I didn't know that until now, but RDBR has told me that it is NOT okay, and is no way of life for anyone or anything! So, with that being said, let me tell you my story.

I lived in a home with a mom and a dad and 4 skin brothers and sisters. It was a little loud and crazy sometimes, but the kids were a lot of fun. I like to chase the kids and play with them. I like to cuddle too! I was working really hard on my potty training but, man it ain't easy! You see, sometimes I would forget that I had to go until the last second and then it was too late, I couldn't make it outside. It wasn't always my fault though, as my family would forget to let me out and I just didn't know exactly how to tell them that it was what I needed to do. One time I forgot, so my dad put me outside and made me stay out there. I had to stay outside for days and nights. I didn't like it at all! It was very scary! Finally, they let me come in and gave me another chance. I was so happy not to be alone and scared anymore. I tried really hard not to potty in the house. One morning before my dad went to work, the kids were all getting up and running around, and I remembered I had to go potty, but I got sidetracked, and I forgot again, until it was too late. I pottied on the floor. Boy, when dad found out he was MAD! He grabbed me up and he "tossed" me out the door. He "tossed" me so hard, that it broke the four bones in my right paw, and my tibia in my back right leg. I guess mom and dad felt bad about it cause they took me to the vet. They didn't have any money to fix me so the vet told them they had to give me up to someone that could. They called RDBR and I am thinking this might be a good thing. I was brought in the house and laid on a soft pillow.

I was given food and some medicine that sure made my leg feel a little better. My new foster mom kept petting me and telling me everything was going to be ok now. I am not sure I believe her, as I am very scared and not sure people can be trusted. What if I have an accident again? Will I get "tossed" out again? My foster mom keeps telling me everything will be okay now, and not to worry. Nobody will ever "toss" me again. She promised me that she will teach me how to remember when it is time to go potty outside. She also says she is changing my name. She says every time she hears it, it makes her think of hitting, because my old dad thumped me. She says with a new name and a wonderful home, she is hoping I will never remember being Thumper. Today she took me to the vet. This vet said she couldn't stay with me, but they are really nice and said they would take good care of me. We are still waiting to see what they are going to have to do to make me better, but I will be better. I will be happy!!! I will be healthy!!! I will be loved!!! And best of all, I WILL NEVER BE "TOSSED" AGAIN!

Love Thumper

P.S
*Thumper needs your help. As you can tell by his story, poor little Thumper has not had the best of lives. However, all of that has now changed for him, and as much as we would like to take all the credit for making him all better, we couldn't do it without you! We need your support for him and other boxers and this is where you can play a BIG role in helping us. We need donations of any kind, pillows, blankets, bowls, food, dishes, toys, leashes, collars and of course any money that you can afford to help out with vet expenses and care. We appreciate you so much and every little bit counts! Please contact us at info@reddirtboxerrescue.com for more information about Thumper and how you can help.
