A History of Red Dirt Boxer Rescue

How it all started…

Teresa Adkins, president of RDBR was volunteering for another rescue as a foster home and discussed with some of her friends about wanting to start RDBR. They decided that this would help save and help more boxers; so Aug 31, 2007, RDBR was started. RDBR went to work saving lives and raising money to become a rescue. Since then, RDBR has become a statewide 501c3 nonprofit organization. RDBR has rescued and placed over 700 boxers since August 2007 through out the state of Oklahoma. We have dedicated volunteers who have opened their homes and hearts to our boxers envisioning finding the perfect home for each and every one. RDBR can proudly say, it has never refused to help any boxer because of its size, age, looks, or even health problems. If the boxers illness or injury is so severe that we can not give this boxer a healthy happy home then you can be assured RDBR makes sure that the boxer leaves this world in the loving arms of a volunteer, NOT on a cold concrete floor of a shelter or in a backyard all alone.

RDBR has helped so many boxers that were taken to the shelters, vets office, or thrown in a back yard, and became so ill that even the shelters were not able to help them. This is when RDBR has stepped up to the plate and make them healthy, happy, loving boxers so they can finally become a part of a family again that will give them the home they deserve.

RDBR will be here, until the laws are changed and people are educated and boxers will no longer be thrown out like yesterdays newspaper. We dream one day there will no longer be a need for animal rescues.

RDBR's officers and volunteers wear many hats, there is so much more to a successful rescue than meets the eye. Everyone in a rescue has to work as a team and it seems there are no limits to all the hard work and long hours our volunteers give. The reward comes the day we see each boxer adopted into wonderful forever homes.
